MAT
MAT is a turn-based tactics game you could call modern chess. Five asymmetric races meet on a hexagonal board: the human Empire, the Indor mages, the Khlari techno-gnomes, the living-tree Dendrions and the wild Iki-Oki lizards. Each race has its own units, abilities and play style.
Every turn gives you action points to move, strike with swords and use abilities. Traps, items and effects such as poison, sleep and haste shape the board. There is no luck: no dice, no random cards, only tactics decide the outcome.
A tutorial in four short lessons, story campaigns, battles against a computer opponent and online matches against other players. A match takes 5–10 minutes.
How to play
Your goal is to deal damage to the enemy king equal to its health.
Each turn you receive action points: one on the first turn, then one more each turn, up to seven. A step to an adjacent cell and a sword strike cost one point each; abilities cost what their unit card says.
To move, drag a unit onto a free adjacent cell. To strike with a sword, drag it onto an adjacent enemy. Abilities and their cost are shown on the unit card: besides action points, some of them spend charges.
When you are out of points or have nothing left to do, press End turn. The tutorial’s four lessons walk you through everything step by step.
